Students learn physics in the SmartLab by crashing cars

Students in Mr. Clamon's Junior High SmartLab created their own physics experiment stations using K'Nex and Simpsons action figures. The students first built their cars and then timed their travel down a ramp. A passenger in their car - a Simpsons figure - was thrown from the vehicle when it hit the end of the ramp. Students measured the distance the figure was thrown and calculated the velocity of the car. Next, they plotted their data on a graph and drew conclusions about the speed of a vehicle and the danger of accidents at various speeds.
